As I was beginning to explore watercolor florals and tried to paint hydrangeas, I found it very difficult to paint this complex flower. After months of trying different techniques to achieve a more realistic piece, I discovered a process that makes it possible to paint a perfectly shape and realistic looking hydrangea without having to sketch an outline.
