Ideally you will get a lot from the course if you are around an IELTS 6.0 or more, but there is a lot for you, even if your level is 5.0 - 5.5.
If you are serious about Moving Up In IELTS then you will need to set aside to practise
Without doubt IELTS can be a tricky examination. Statistically, acad writing gets the lowest band score of all the skills internationally, with an average of 5.7 in 2019. So if you have been stuck at a band 6.0 then you are actually doing very well - you are above average!
A lot of students focus their efforts on the Task 2 Essay because it is worth 2/3 of the total score! While it's good to prepare as much as possible this is also a big mistake that students and some teachers, make when preparing for the exam. If you fail to practise the Task 1 Report you could lose 1/3 of your total marks! Hold that thought for a moment and ask yourself why would you give up, potentially 1/3 of your total writing score
So, the purpose of this course is to remove some of the mystery around Task 1 acad writing and show you some simple techniques to help you approach this task with confidence and secure that 1/3 toward your Band 7.0 or 7.5+.
The course is divided into sections
We b with some background to the task, the examiners and ways of structuring your report.
Moving on, we explore each of the main data types and various techniques for approaching these.
We have included some examples from students work and in some cases examiner model answers and comments.
Sections 9 and 10, focus on some of the key areas of grammar and vocabulary that are necessary for this particular writing task.
All of these sections are elaborated in 3 able Workbooks. You will find the data types, and some tasks to give you more practise. There are additional grammar exercises and links providing a list of resources to support your preparation.
I really look forward to supporting you on your journey to a Band 7.0+ in IELTS. Having taught IELTS now for more than 12 years in the Middle East, Asia and Europe, I am confident that you will gain a lot of confidence in preparing for this task, and will succeed in obtaining your desired goals.
See you in the course.
Typical learners on this course are international students who are seeking to study in English speaking universities or within disciplines that are taught in English. However, any student seeking to improve their Acad writing from the perspective of IELTS will definitely benefit.
