The Lennon Sisters turn on, tune in, and drop out with Today!!, a charmingly awkward stab at flower power relevance. Snuff Garrett's sunshine pop production is about as comfortable a fit as the chaste plaid skirts and white go-go boots the siblings wear on the cover, but even when the material is a bad match, their harmonies still sparkle. The Lennons wisely steer clear of psychedelia, instead favoring bubblegum fare like "Green Tambourine" and "He's Just My Style." Their earnest approach proves particularly well-suited to entries like "What the World Needs Now Is Love," but despite their SoCal roots, hipper West Coast numbers like "Different Drum" and "California Dreamin'" fall flat.
