My Egyptian brother has protected me for years-even at the beginning, when he pretended to despise me. We don't talk about his protective nature over me, it's just there. But I see it, feel it-and it bonds us tighter as brothers. It doesn't exist because he thinks me weak. I know better than anyone that he feels safest when I have his back. And vice versa. You wouldn't know it by looking at him-a man whose presence alone strikes terror into the hearts of his enemies-but his heart is huge and gold through and through.
