What you'll learn

The objective of this intensive, hands-on one-day training course is to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the concepts and terminology used in Microsoft Project 2010, 2013 or 2016. Understanding the resource driven element of Microsoft Project and the alternative ways of using the software is the core benefit of this course. Following the course delegates will be able to able to produce both timeline and resource driven plans.

Requirements

No previous experience of either project management or the software is required, but due to the interactive nature of the course delegates should have a high level of competency in using Microsoft Windows.

MODULE 2: Creating a Project Plan

Learning outcomes: Understand how to add project tasks, set task dependancies and contraints.

Adding Task Dependencies

Adding Constraints and Deadlines

Adding Recurring Tasks

MODULE 3: Adding and Assigning Resources

Learning outcomes: Effectively adding a pool of resources and assigning the resources to tasks within a project.

Create a Pool of Resources

Adjust Resource Calendars and Costs

Assign Resources to Tasks

MODULE 4: Formatting and Printing the Plan

Learning outcomes: Exploring different settings and options to help present and print your Project to professional standards.

Formatting Text & Text Styles

Formatting the Gantt Chart

Printing the Gantt Chart

Running Project Reports

MODULE 5: Tracking Progress

Learning outcomes: How to track a project's plan effectively by using tools to monitor the progress of tasks.

Saving the Baseline

Updating Tasks

Displaying Progress Lines and Tracking Filters

Who this course is for:

The course is aimed at new users of Microsoft Project 2010, 2013 or 2016 who want to familiarise themselves with the basic concepts of the software in order to build project plans. Also existing users of the software who need a better understanding of the terminology used and need to prepare project plans based on resources and work.
