About the Author
John M. Harris, MBA, is a director at Veralon, a healthcare management consulting firm. Mr. Harris has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in consulting, management, and entrepreneurship. His work focuses on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and the transition to value-based payment. He has served as a consultant to health systems and hospitals, accountable care organizations, clinically integrated networks, physician hospital organizations, and health plans. Mr. Harris is a faculty member and conducts seminars for the American College of Healthcare Executives on strategic planning and the future of healthcare. He is also a frequent speaker for the American Association of Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and other organizations, as well as a guest expert on The Wharton School s Sirius XM radio station. He publishes frequently in hfm magazine and has contributed to Futurescan, the annual guide to healthcare strategy. Mr. Harris has a master of business administration degree in healthcare management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor s degree from Dartmouth College
