Dynamic Modeling of Automatic Machines for Design and Control

English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031359410 | 307 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 44 MB
This book describes the design experience of automatic machines and the theoretical background for controlling them. Unlike the existing literature, it includes design concepts and their relationship with the dynamic behavior of automated devices, and links the dynamic response of the machine elements with the actuators that constitute an automatic machine. As such, it demonstrates that it is vital to properly model any automatic machine as a single system and find the final response to have a good design and control scheme. The introduction describes the background for designing automatic machines, their uniqueness in machine design, and the need to understand dynamic behavior. The following chapters provide the background for modeling multibody systems, examples of typical automatic machines, and the basis for determining the dynamic response of the most common actuators (motor, pneumatic, and hydraulic pistons and valves). The fourth chapter describes the dynamic response of the most common sensors utilized in automatic machines, while the fifth chapter includes the dynamic models of the machine elements that connect the actuators with the end effects (specific tools for each particular application). The final chapters contain examples of dynamic models for different automatic machines, including all the elements that affect the final response, and describe the simulation techniques (and their application to the examples) and the application of the transfer function for estimating the transient response of automatic machines.

Drug Use and Ethnicity in Early Adolescence

English | 2002 | ISBN: 0306457377, 1475785852 | PDF | pages: 248 | 2.0 mb
This book presents new and important information about adolescent drug use. The book is intended for human service professionals, teachers, researchers, and students interested in the issue of early adolescent drug use and its causes and pervasiveness in a multiethnic population. Today, the field of adolescent drug use research relies on integrative models that permit competing explanations of drug use. This approach promotes flexibility in testing hypotheses pertinent to adol- cents of very different social and cultural backgrounds or personal characteristics. Longitudinal studies, including the one presented in these pages, have identified many risk and protective factors or processes that are linked to adolescent drug use. We review these throughout this book and present new information from our own research. Our point of departure is to extend and elaborate descriptive research and models of adolescent drug research to cover the unique and diverse experiences of adolescents who are Hispanic, African American, and White non-Hispanic.

Dream, Death, and the Self
Free Download J. J. Valberg, "Dream, Death, and the Self"
English | 2007 | pages: 518 | ISBN: 0691128596, 0691128588 | PDF | 2,5 mb
"Might this be a dream?" In this book, distinguished philosopher J. J. Valberg approaches the familiar question about dream and reality by seeking to identify its subject matter: what is it that would be the dream if "this" were a dream? It turns out to be a subject matter that contains the whole of the world, space, and time but which, like consciousness for Sartre, is nothing "in itself." This subject matter, the "personal horizon," lies at the heart of the main topics-the first person, the self, and the self in time-explored at length in the book.

English | 2000 | ISBN: 0300080212 | PDF | pages: 318 | 7.4 mb
This collection of over fifty top-secret letters are drawn from classified Soviet archives only recently opened to scholars. The letters offer unique insight into Soviet foreign policy and Stalin's attitudes and intentions during the Great Terror of the 1930's and the years leading up to the Second World War. They confirm the dependence of Comintern on the Kremlin and Stalin's role in shaping it. They also shed light on the confusion about policies toward foreign Communist parties and the effect this had on the history of the twentieth century.

Having an e-commerce Web site is no longer a competitive advantage-it's now a competitive imperative. But constructing a profitable and effective e-commerce site involves much more than simply adding shopping-cart capabilities to an existing Web site. It requires an understanding of rapidly evolving issues and the integration of complex technologies. Developing e-Commerce Sites leads you step-by-step through the process of building a sophisticated e-commerce Web site. This book brings you up to speed on the latest technologies and shows you how to integrate them into a customized e-commerce site that serves your organization's specific needs. Details and instructions are reinforced by carefully crafted code examples that incorporate empowering technologies. The examples are included on the accompanying CD-ROM. In addition, the authors describe a complete e-commerce solution, illustrating system design, user interface, and utility classes. Developing e-Commerce Sites demonstrates actual implementation of the five requisite functions of an e-commerce site: inventory management, profiling, ordering, shipping, and reporting. You will find clear, practical information on such topics as: Java language basics Servlets and jаvascript SQL and JDBC XML and how it can be used in e-commerce Credit card verification Security Inventory management Customer profiling Ordering, shipping, and reporting With this book as a guide, technical professionals and managers charged with deploying an e-commerce site will learn the important issues, underlying technologies, and practical skills needed to accomplish this formidable task successfully.

Destruction Rites Ephemerality and Demolition in Postwar Visual Culture
Free Download Mona Hadler, "Destruction Rites: Ephemerality and Demolition in Postwar Visual Culture"
English | 2017 | ISBN: 1784533408, 1350428973 | PDF | pages: 274 | 20.6 mb
In the early sixties, crowds gathered to watch rites of destruction - from the demolition derby where makeshift cars crashed into each other for sport, to concerts where musicians destroyed their instruments, to performances of self-destructing machines staged by contemporary artists. Destruction, in both its playful and fearsome aspects, was ubiquitous in the new Atomic Age. This complicated subjectivity was not just a way for people to find catharsis amid the fears of annihilation and postwar trauma, but also a complex instantiation of ideological crisis-in a time with some seriously conflicted political myths.Destruction Rites explores the ephemeral visual culture of destruction in the postwar era and its links to contemporary art. It examines the demolition derby; games and toys based on warfare; playgrounds situated in bomb sites; and the rise of garage sales, where goods designed for obsolescence and destined for the garbage heap are reclaimed and repurposed by local communities.
